7166 Fleet Review Telescope

In the early 1900's grand clifftop and beach homes would have been considered incomplete without an impressive brass telescope on the balcony. Our reproduction is elegant but also highly functional, magnifying 25 times with a large object lens of 45mm. Focusing is by finger-tip twist control, from about 40 metres to infinity. Barrel length 39" fully extended. The tripod has sheesham (a renewable hardwood) legs, protected with a dark stain, and chunky brass fittings.

Its height adjusts from about 3'6" to 6'.

7185 Officer-of-the-Watch Telescope

Pride of the Quarterdeck, 18th Century Style! In the days of sail it was traditional for the officer in charge of one watch to pass command to his successor by handing him the ship's telescope, one of the most valuable possessions on board. This fine instrument is based on designs from the time of Nelson, but with more modern optics and a focusing eyepiece (perhaps he would have "seen the ships" with this version!). It has a single draw, so is quick to open for use, and magnifies 20 times through an object lens of 45mm. Folded telescope measures 11" and extends to 18". The casing is in machined, sateen finish brass, with a hand-stitched leather grip. Presentation box measures 12.5 x 3 x 2.75", in sustainable hardwood with brass corners and engraving plate for up to four initials
