Bosuns' Calls
| In the days of sail, orders aboard ship were piped on the Bosun’s Call, whose high-pitched whistle could be heard against the strongest wind. The Regulation Call, still made for the world’s navies and training cadets, is made of brass and copper with hard-wearing electro-plated nickel finish (beware of cheap imitations!). The presentation and trophy versions are gold or silver-plated, or simply polished brass and copper, and suitably engraved. All Calls are 4" long, with matching 50" neckchain fitted with a swivel snap-hook. They are supplied in a presentation box, instruction leaflet and history. |

Schatz Ship's Bell Clock
| The first implementation of the "Ship's Bells" watchkeeping system - long before clocks - was a man, a sandglass and a bell! To fall asleep at this post was a serious offence, as it could throw the entire ship out of synch. When clocks became reliable, and a clever inventor linked one to a separate bell, the whole process was thus automated and vastly improved. In this spirit, we have linked a 5" diameter brass bell to a Schatz Royal Ocean clock mounted together on a mahogany-finish board in a wonderful display of nautical tradition. Board measures 17x8" |
